Overview
The 48VDC Ecosystem is a modular platform where every module shares a common 48V DC bus voltage. The LVSolarBuck MPPT charger is the first module — the rest of the ecosystem builds on top of it.
Planned Modules
- Battery Charger — 48V battery management and charging
- USB PD Board — USB Power Delivery output from the 48V bus
- Compute Module — low-power computing for monitoring, control, and data logging
- Radio Module — LoRa mesh networking for internet-independent communication
- Additional modules as the platform expands
Design Philosophy
Every module is:
- Open-source (CERN-OHL-S-2.0 for hardware, GPL-3.0 for firmware)
- Designed for 10+ year lifetime
- Repairable with standard tools
- Optimized for tropical conditions (heat, humidity, unstable grid)
Current Status
The ecosystem is in the planning stage. The LVSolarBuck MPPT charger serves as the foundation — once the 48V converter is validated, the remaining modules will follow.
