Simona and Alex at Making Vinyl Europe in Haarlem
From September 30 to October 2, Simona and Alex were in Haarlem, the Netherlands, for Making Vinyl Europe, the European edition of the conference for the vinyl record industry, held at PHIL Haarlem. This year’s theme was “Building Value Beyond Volume”.
Simona is part of Poy Records, an independent record label from Chiang Mai, and of the Poy Festival, Chiang Mai’s music and vinyl festival.
Three Days, Many New Faces
We had a wonderful time and enjoyed every single minute of it. Three days of talks and conversations with people from across the vinyl industry meant a lot of new faces and more impressions than we have been able to sort through yet.
It started at the Welcome Reception, where Wouter and Ariane joined our table. It was their first year at Making Vinyl too, and the four of us became the newcomer quartet.
Evenings at the Bar
The days did not end when the sessions did. Every evening we ended up in the bar connected to PHIL Haarlem, where several liters of beer and wine were emptied over long and deep discussions: about the current state of the vinyl world, where it is heading, and our own plans for the future.
We enjoyed the time with everyone, but the evenings with Erwin and Erwin (yes, two of them), Marius, Till, Hans-Juergen, and Lou were very special for us. Thank you all.
Why Vinyl?
If you know us for power electronics and LED lamps, you may wonder what we were doing at a vinyl conference. We cannot say much yet. Only this: something big could be coming.
We will keep you updated.
Update, October 2026: here it is. We are helping plan a vinyl record plant in northern Thailand; what it will do and what our part is are in From Audio File to Record.
